Our Purpose
At 5 Mile Distilling, we're proud to craft spirits that have garnered recognition and awards. However, our true purpose goes far beyond the spirits we create.
While the basic concept of our purpose was always there, centred around our role in the community and how we can make a positive impact, we’ve spent a great deal of time reflecting on articulating it clearly, which has been a journey of its own.
Our purpose is to help Taupō prosper by creating not only a business but a destination that complements the region’s natural beauty, fosters local employment, promotes education, and embracing the journey of sustainability, inspiring others to join us.
We aim to achieve this by:
1. Creating a Destination: We are designing a distillery experience that complements Taupō’s natural beauty. From our cellar door to our tours, we'll offer a memorable experience that showcases our passion for distilling and sustainability, helping to draw more visitors to Taupō. We’re excited to soon be opening our doors to start making this a reality.
2. Fostering Local Employment: As a small business, we're committed to creating jobs and opportunities for our community as we grow. We believe in investing in our people and helping them develop.
3. Promoting Education: We plan to share our knowledge and passion not only for distilling but for sustainability too, through future tours, tastings, workshops, and other educational initiatives. Our goal is to educate and inspire those interested in the distilling and sustainability.
4. Embracing Sustainability: We recognize our responsibility to the environment and are committed to sustainable practices in all aspects of our business. We hope to inspire others to join us on this journey.
